Resolve to Turn Back the Clock this Year with Botox®

It’s that time of year when self-improvement is on everyone’s mind, and #newyearnewyou is trending. If this is the year that you’re going to take control of your appearance and get rid of your crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles, resolve to turn back the clock with Botox®.

Here at Suite 200 Med Spa, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, we’re committed to helping you look and feel your best — in the new year, and all year. Our team, led by Thomas Lanchoney, MD, is licensed and experienced in providing Botox injections to give you a natural, youthful appearance.

Botox benefits

Botox has been FDA approved for cosmetic treatments since 2002, and, since then, millions of people around the world have rejuvenated their appearances with these safe, effective injections. Botox reduces the appearance of wrinkles at the sides of your eyes, as well as the “11” lines between your eyebrows and the horizontal wrinkles on your forehead. The injections can even perk up a drooping brow.

The treatment is an excellent option if you’re bothered by signs of aging but don’t want to have a more invasive procedure like a brow lift or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift). Botox is not only less invasive, but it only takes 10-15 minutes with no downtime to recover from bruising, swelling, or stitches. And, on top of all of these benefits, Botox is far more affordable than cosmetic surgery.

How it works

Botox is derived from a neurotoxin, specifically, the one that causes food poisoning. While that sounds scary, don’t worry. In this form, the serum isn’t dangerous — it just temporarily blocks the nerve signals that control your tiny facial muscles. As your muscles stop moving, the skin covering them also relaxes, and your wrinkles soften and disappear.

The effects are temporary, and they vary between patients because of factors like metabolism and lifestyle. Most of our clients have Botox injections every 4-6 months to maintain their youthful appearance. Additionally, over time, your facial muscles are “trained” to stay still, so the effects of your injections might start to last longer as you continue to have Botox treatments.

What to expect

When you come in, we start by talking to you about your skin, your concerns, and your aesthetic goals. We study your face and skin to make sure that Botox is the best solution to rejuvenate your appearance.

Before we get started, we clean your face, and, if you’re sensitive to needles, we can apply a topical numbing cream. Then, using a small, sterile needle and a fresh vial of Botox, we inject the serum into your skin at key points to relax your facial muscles and reduce your wrinkles.

When your treatment is complete, you can return to your regular daily activities, although you should avoid exercise or strenuous physical activity for at least 24 hours after your injections. Your facial muscles and skin need a little time to relax, so you’ll first notice a difference in your appearance within 24-48 hours.
